School Visit to Seven Sisters Country Park

The Sussex Wildlife Trust is bringing over 30 years of experience of providing environmental education to Seven Sisters Country Park. Within this unique landscape school children will never forget a visit here.

Seven Sisters Country Park is a designated site of Special Scientific Interest for its chalk grassland and geological interest. Its 250 hectares of downland, coast and riverine estuary also falls within the Sussex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has been designated as a Heritage Coast.

The Country Park was established in 1971 and is now managed by the South Downs Joint Committee (SDJC). It has a wonderful range of habitats including grassland, woodland, wetland, and coastal and marine where a whole range of geographical and environmental studies can be undertaken. The Sussex Wildlife Trust, in partnership with the SDJC and with kind permission of the Forestry Commission, employs a team of leaders to run educational visits to Seven Sisters Country Park.

The entrance to the Park is on the A259 at Exceat between Newhaven and Eastbourne. Parking is available for coaches and there are indoor facilities in one of the old barns and public toilets on site. There is also a Visitor Centre at Exceat, a restaurant and cycle hire centre and canoe hire (separate booking necessary). Any coaches wishing to use the car parks must book in advance. We can only accept a maximum of 2 coaches per group as the car parks are very busy at this time. Please note that coaches are NOT permitted in either car park on Sundays and Bank Holidays, and are allowed on Saturdays only by prior arrangement - please call the Rangers's office on 01323-870280 to book. Coaches cannot use the car parks at any time during August - we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

For further information about the Education Service at the Park, or if you would like to make a booking, please contact the Sussex Wildlife Trust.
