Join us for a workshop weekend to mark the Autumn Equinox curated by The Bee Friendly Trust.

You are invited for a series of mentored, creative workshops, where you can write, draw, dance, imagine, sculpt, collage, film, and photograph.

Be inspired by the landscape, flora and fauna of the Seven Sisters, and the multi-sensory communication of bees.

There will be talks, walks, foraging, group activities, time for individual work, and time for reflection.

The weekend will be held at We will be working from the beautifully restored Barn at Seven Sisters Visitors Centre.

You will have the opportunity to develop your own talents, practice, ideas, and projects with expert help, guidance and support from the Bee Friendly Team:

Luke Dixon – bee expert, writer, teacher and performance maker.

Jane Turner – choreographer, performance maker, teacher and expert on complex movement systems.

Lesley Hipple – tree and forest expert.

Richard Waring – writer, director.

All participants will be asked to create something (an object, a poem, a story, a photograph, a painting…} to adorn a traditional wicker and daub skep hive made by Tina Cunningham, the last heritage hive and skep maker, which will be installed in a nearby railway station.

We will also explore ceremony and ritual to mark the equinox.

FEES & HOW TO BOOK

£200 including some materials. There are 12 places. To reserve a place please email emma@beefriendlytrust.org with a few words about why you would like to join us and what you hope to get from the weekend.

FOOD

Teas, coffee, water and soft drinks will be available throughout the weekend. There will be a light lunch provided on arrival and breakfast croissants provided on the Saturday and Sunday. For lunches there is The Grab and Go, which offers a selection of snacks and light lunches and The Saltmarsh Café, which offers visitors relaxing sit-down dining.

In the evening, The Cuckmere Inn, located just over the other side of Exceat bridge, overlooks the river and valley, giving visitors Seven Sisters traditional pub food in a tranquil setting.
