Guidance for event organisers
The stunning landscape of Seven Sisters and the Sussex Heritage Coast is undoubtedly inspiring.
Hundreds of thousands visit every year, either on day trips, as part of a longer stay or joining one of the many events that pass through the landscape.
But, with all these people visiting the coast, it has a large impact on the landscape.
Here at Seven Sisters we want to work positively with event organisers to ensure events can take place smoothly, without putting too much pressure on the landscape and landowners, giving participants that special experience organisers want to impart.
If you are planning an event that comes through Seven Sisters Country Park, we ask that you contact us in advance to ensure your event is legal, safe and fun for everyone.
Top tips for planning an event at Seven Sisters and the Sussex Heritage Coast
Stretching from Seaford to Eastbourne, the Sussex Heritage Coast takes in jewels of the south coast, including Seaford Head, Friston Forest, Birling Gap, Beachy Head and, of course, Seven Sisters.
Before getting too far ahead by announcing a date for your event, we would encourage the following:
- Contact the landowners and land managers to ensure your event doesn’t clash with others
- Check with the landowners there are no planned works or activities that may interfere with the running of your event
- Ask the landowner if you require any permissions or licenses for your event
- Check to make sure public transport is a viable option to avoid putting undue strain on local car park

- National Trust – manage Birling Gap
- Eastbourne Borough Council – manage Beachy Head
- Seaford Town Council – manage Seaford Head
- Forestry England – manage Friston Forest
By working together, we can ensure all visitors have an enjoyable and safe experience.
Supporting the South Downs Way
Ongoing maintenance and improvements to the South Downs Way national trail amounts to thousands of pounds a year. Events, particulaly large groups, can place an extra strain on this already popular route. To help maintain the South Downs Way, event organisers are encouraged to donate at least £1 per participant for one day events via the South Downs Trust.
