Seven Sisters Talks: A Sussex Farm in the 1950’s with Ian Everest

April 19 @ 10:30 am

Join local historian Ian Everest for an illustrated talk on the history of a Sussex farm in the 1950’s.

To ‘make hay’ and ‘bring in the harvest’ sound like idyllic past times, but this talk shows just how tough life was on a South Downs farm during the 1950’s. The war was over, but the battle was still being fought to feed the nation. This illustrated talk looks at life on Manor Farm at Bishopstone and includes original cine film of a year on the farm. The speaker, Ian Everest, spent his childhood years in Bishopstone Village , and has some fascinating memories to share.
