'The Shimmer' - A photography exhibition by Toby Lamborn

July 17 - July 21

“Did you know the South Downs used to be blue?”
It was this question from a stranger that became the foundation for Brighton based Toby Lamborn’s project “The Shimmer”.

This blue-shimmer effect was caused by the vast Chalk Hill Blue butterfly populations that used to inhabit the South Downs. Through photography, The Shimmer exhibition explores in tandem the emotional experience of the imagined phenomena alongside social historical shifts in relationships to ecology.

Exhibiting on the first weekend of the Big Butterfly Count at Seven Sisters Country Park, after a visit to the exhibition why not step outside and see if you can spot a rare Chalk Hill Blue butterfly!
